In order to ensure protection for the most vulnerable Ukrainian population, Fondazione L’Albero della Vita, Fondazione Progetto Arca Onlus and Remar SOS co-designed the integrated intervention ‘Life-saving humanitarian assistance initiative for the Ukrainian population in the city of Černivci‘ funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) which aims to provide aid and protection to Ukrainian IDPs and vulnerable families in the city of Černivci.

Located in the south-west of Ukraine, 40 km from the border with Romania, the city of Černivci is a central point for receiving internally displaced persons and people, mostly women and children, seeking shelter in Europe.

Since August, the project has been operating on two strategic lines:

1) Provision of hot meals, food parcels, hygiene kits and goods to protect against the winter.
2) Psycho-social, recreational and medical support to women and girls.
3) Training and information activities to prevent gender-based violence and trafficking.

During the 6 months of the project, assistance is thus provided in first emergency situations to 1,000 people per day, mostly women, children, vulnerable families in the city, internally displaced persons and people in transit.
